Large Animals
The
use of ultrasound in large animals, mainly cows and horses, started with
pregnancy detection. Through the years the advantages of utilizing
ultrasound as a standard practice method for reproductive evaluations has
become very well known to veterinarians. Nowadays, other uses of
ultrasound are becoming just as routine; such as: tendon evaluations and
treatment analysis, chest studies for pleural effusions and abscess
detection, abdominal ultrasound for tumor, cyst, calculi and abscess
evaluations along with cardiac examinations for genetic abnormalities and
potential performance evaluation.
